DeSoto County Declares Economic Development Week

DeSoto County Board of County Commissioners proclaimed the week of May 9-13, 2022, as Economic Development Week.

During this week, communities across North America will celebrate and recognize the contributions made by economic development partners to create more economically vibrant and livable communities.

The Board presented the official proclamation to the DeSoto County Economic Development Advisory Committee in the Board meeting on April 26, 2022. “The advisory committee is vital to the function of economic development—attracting and retaining business in our community,” said Committee Chair, Robert Womack, Jr. “We represent a cross section of DeSoto County and are committed to helping make significant and sustainable improvements here.”

Created in 2016 by International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the largest international professional trade association for economic developers, Economic Development Week aims to increase awareness for local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities, and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.

In recognition of Economic Development Week 2022, DeSoto County’s economic development division will post a variety of DeSoto County business highlights on social media and the website, www.TeamDesoto.com. Additionally, Economic Development Director, Sondra Guffey, will present a certificate of appreciation to the DeSoto County Chamber of Commerce board at their meeting on May 11, 2022.
