Friends, families, and craft beer enthusiasts will have a new hangout in the heart of Downtown Arcadia come late-October thanks to the vision of a group of passionate funding partners.
For partner and local brewer Andrew Ames, the passion started at home.
“I did it at home as a hobby and I started talking about how it would be cool if Arcadia had its own brewery,” he said. “We talked to a couple people who had the same common interest and now we have 30 investors who are mostly local, so it’s defintely a community funded project.”
Offering 16 taps and a variety of ales, lagers, stouts and more, Three Trees will feature in-house brews, as well as others from regional microbrews such as Wet Dogs Brewing of Lake Placid, Fat Point Brewing of Sarasota, Motorworks Brewing of Bradenton, and more.
“We want local microbreweries in here,” Ames said. “I think the only name brand we might have is Guinness because that’s a reliable option, too.”
Bar and family games will be available outside, as well as an area for a local food truck to park and serve guests and families.
“The brewery is going to be family oriented,” Ames said. “The outside area will be fenced in with maybe historical-looking wrought iron fencing. So, you can be out there playing games, sitting at the picnic tables and enjoying yourself.”
“We also want to make this a bit of mission for outreach,” he added. “Amanda Rueter, a funding partner, is going to be our operator (and bar manager) – she’s a chaplain with the Army Reserve — and we are going to use the brewery as a community go-to place.”
Three Trees Brewing Co. is located at 5 East Oak Street Arcadia, FL. For more information, find them on Facebook or email [email protected].

With plans to open October 1st, Something Sweet owners hope their new vintage candy, souvenir and gift shop will be a step back in time.
“You can come in and get a retro toy or vintage candy that may relate to people who grew up in the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s or today,” co-owner Charity Reesor said. “We want to make it exciting for people of all ages.”
The shop, located in the Rosin “Pink Building” Arcade in Downtown Arcadia, will feature candy, toys and other birthday party items, some vintage and some more modern.
“We want to gear to the kids as a major goal,” Reesor said. “We will have stuff that is trending now. You have things that trend on TikTok and it’s all the craze and we want that to be a part of that, too. We want everybody to be excited about it.”
Something Sweet owners want the store to be something different, something where families can make little moments into big memories.
“We want it to be candy that you can’t find everywhere,” she said. “We want something where people can come in and say, ‘Oh, I remember this from when I was a kid,’ and wanting their kids to experience what they experienced. You don’t really get that all the time.”
While the menu is still in development, Something Sweet will feature a variety of candy with plans to sell giftboxes and other party favors.
“We want to have options for families on their way to a birthday party,” Reesor said. “So, if you are going to a birthday party, you can come here and get anything you would need to take to the party. We want kids to be able to come here and experience a party every day, whether that be to pick up a balloon, a special treat, or just to come in, enjoy the space and feel like they are having a party.”
Something Sweet is located at 101 W Oak St Arcadia, FL, in the Arcade section of the pink Rosin Building. For more information, find Something Sweet on Facebook, email [email protected] or call 941-440-6161.

Drive-thru coffee franchise Ellianos Coffee hopes to set up shop outside of Walmart Supercenter on SE Highway 70 in DeSoto County in the near future.
The 800-square-foot structure is planned for a half-acre vacant lot between Popeyes and Crews Bank & Trust.
Ellianos menu lists a variety of hot, iced and freezer coffees, as well as teas, smoothies, shakes, refreshers, and food options. For more menu items, go to Ellianos.com.
Ellianos is strictly a drive-thru with dual lanes for customers. For now, they are still in the paperwork process.
Owners received approval for a development plan at an August 27 DeSoto County Commissioner meeting; however, they still must submit an Improvement Plan application to the county where the engineered plans will be reviewed by staff. The Improvement Plan will not have to go before County Commissioners to move forward.
